Fourth Grade Reading

In fourth grade we study weekly fiction and nonfiction selections, focusing on one essential learning target each week, and constantly reviewing and reinforcing vocabulary and additional comprehension targets.

In addition, we supplement with one chapter book unit per trimester, and Readers Theater opportunities.

For the fall  literature circles, we use the following role sheets: Roles (all 6) for Shiloh.Sounder.

Reading Requirement

Students must read the following amount during their fourth grade year:

Trimester 1: TWO chapter books
Trimester 2: THREE chapter books

Other options for sharing comprehension may be suggested by the student and approved by me.
