Middle school is a time of significant change for children, both socially and academically. A committed community with strong values is critical as students prepare for the challenges of high school and beyond. Faithful Shepherd, with its foundation in Catholic values, provides the best possible environment for your child to develop into a successful teenager and adult. The rapport that our faculty develop with their students forges a trust that gives your child the academic, social, and spiritual nourishment they need to flourish. At Faithful Shepherd, your middle school son or daughter will get the support needed to continue to mature and grow.
Faithful Shepherd utilizes PowerSchool as a bridge between teachers and families for real-time student progress in the classroom. This web-based system allows parents of our 4th through 8th grade students to see their child’s grades and attendance. It breaks down grades by class, provides individual assignment scores, and calculates approximate GPA. All middle school students, and 4th and 5th grade students by request, are able to access their grades and check on assignments through their own accounts. It is a powerful way for faculty and families to work together to support students’ success.
The use of modern technology at Faithful Shepherd plays an integral role in each student’s education. Key technology available to students include:
Faithful Shepherd utilizes Chromebooks to expand our students’ horizons. These computers are provided to each student in grades 6-8 to store student work and data in the cloud. Chromebooks serve as the central tool for middle school homework and student/teacher collaboration.
Faithful Shepherd middle school students and teachers also utilize Google Apps for Education in the classroom. Through their Chromebooks, students use their Google account to gain access to a variety of academic environments and leverage a standard platform for homework and communication throughout the school year.
Faithful Shepherd believes in service to others as an essential part of our faith and our school. Every student has a chance to do something good in this world, and in our middle school, we’ve integrated service into our Religion curriculum. Each student in grades 6-8 completes at least ten service hours every trimester, through a variety of activities around their community and in their parish.
All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students will need 30 service hours this school year. 10 of those hours must come from a parish. They can earn up to 5 parish hours and up to 5 non-parish hours before the start of the school year. This a change from past school years.
