Acceleration Requirements

Requirements for Initial Placement in the Accelerated and AdvancedPlus Math Programs

Requirements may be found on the Middle School webpage under the Middle School Resources tab.

Requirements to Remain in the Accelerated Math Program

To remain in an accelerated math class for the academic year, a student must maintain a B+ average for the trimester. The student is expected to complete the assigned homework every day and is to keep up with the pace of the class.

If homework is not done, or if a student falls behind in classwork, or if (s)he fails to maintain a B+ throughout the trimester, it will be taken as an indication that the student is no longer able to meet the standards of acceleration. The student will be moved to the advanced track of his/her grade level for the rest of the year. This decision is typically made at the end of a trimester.

If a student is absent, it is their responsibility to find out what was missed, what homework needs to be done, and if necessary, to arrange a time to take a missed test or quiz.
