6th Grade Advanced ELA

Sixth grade Advanced English Language Arts builds upon students’ prior knowledge of grammar, vocabulary, word usage, and the mechanics of writing. Since this is an advanced class, the focus will be on challenging a student to develop expertise at or above grade level in each of these disciplines. Various genres of literature are used to improve reading comprehension skills and writing exercises are linked to students’ reading assignments or cross curriculum assignments. Classes will be working towards fulfilling or surpassing state curriculum standards for sixth grade English Language Arts.
