About Mrs. Swain

This is my 22nd year of teaching at Faithful Shepherd! Many students have come through my classroom door and it has been my privilege to have the opportunity to teach and guide them through their first-grade year.  It is so rewarding to see how much my students grow and learn each year.

This will be my 33rd year of teaching.  I guess time flies when you are having fun!  I hold a B.F.A. from Drake University.  I obtained my teaching license in elementary education from Texas A&M- Corpus Christi and my Master’s in Teaching and Learning from St. Mary’s University.  Outside of school, I love attending live theater performances and going to the beach.  I am also crazy about dogs!  I am married and have 3 children named Maddy, Mason, and Irene.

First grade is my favorite grade to teach.  The students are curious and ready to learn.  They also have great stories to share with me every day!  I love to hear my students laugh and to see them shine when they learn something new or accomplish a goal they’ve set.
