St. John Neumann Green Team

“Creation is not a blank canvas but God’s work of art. We are nature’s stewards, not its masters.” – MCC, Minnesota Catholic Conference, Integral Ecology

We as SJN members have been called to Stewardship – transforming our lives through prayer, participation, and generosity. All is based on the creative power of God working in our lives. Care of creation is a response to our communion with our loving God.  We have made inroads in reducing waste, doing more to recycle, and conserve natural resources. We want to explore further how we as a parish community can commit to a no-waste environment within our church house.

If you are interested in joining and helping to form this ministry, please contact Kathy Groettum, groettumk@comcast.net, 651-235-5213. This ministry is not listed in our current Stewardship booklet. Middle School students are needed to sit at a sign-up table for volunteers for cup washing and sign-up for Green Team members and volunteers. Students can earn parish service hours for joining this initiative.

Purpose:
-To educate and implement Care for God’s Creation within our SJN community,
-To implement practices that support a no waste environment within our church facility,
-To assist in developing eco-spirituality among our community members,
-To recruit and expand our core Green Team, and
-To recruit volunteers for events sponsored at and through SJN.
