Bus App

Here Comes the Bus app!
Parents whose children ride the 196 bus to and from school each day can now download the “Here Comes The Bus” smartphone application. The app allows parents to securely track the location of their child’s bus and receive important transportation updates.

The District 196 Transportation Department successfully piloted the app this summer and is ready to launch the service districtwide. The app is available for download free on the iPhone App Store and on the Android Google Play Store.

Log into Here Comes the Bus with your email address.  The District 196 ID is 73500.  Since this app uses the student’s district 196 lunch account number, our FS parents will need to email District 196 at transportation@district196.org and obtain a temporary lunch account number for their rider(s).

Once login is complete, setup a virtual radius that will alert when the bus is in the area.

The app also sends notification messages if a bus is running late or if a different bus has been substituted for a child’s usual bus.

The app uses HTTPS, or Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure, which encrypts all communication between the web browser and the app for security. The app tracks district buses using GPS; it does not track students.
