MAP Testing

Dedication to Your Child’s Performance

At Faithful Shepherd we believe that academic excellence requires constant dedication to your child’s performance. The Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) tests are computer administered achievement tests designed to measure growth in student learning for individual students, classrooms, and the school as a whole. Tests for mathematics, reading, and language are administered to grades 2-8. The results provide growth scale (RIT) and percentile scores to help measure student progress and potential. MAP testing is conducted in the fall, winter, and spring.

Faithful Shepherd uses MAP testing as a living tool to offer growth in several areas:

  • Provide teachers with information to improve student learning
  • Monitor academic growth and consistently track progress over time
  • Inform students, teachers, and families about their current skill levels
  • Leverage information to help make data driven decisions about instruction

If you would like to learn more about MAP testing, we encourage you to read the Family Guide to MAP Growth provided by the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA).
