About Mrs. Maertens

Hello! My name is Mrs. Maertens and I am the K-5 Enrichment teacher at Faithful Shepherd.

Here is a little background about me:  I graduated from Gustavus with a Mathematics degree in 2010, and then went into the MN Math Corps for two years teaching 3^rd-5^th grade small group math.  I decided to pursue an education career and went into graduate school at Augsburg to gain a K-8 teaching certification and a Masters in Education.  Throughout my career I have been a substitute teacher, a tutor at Huntington Learning Centers for students of all ages (even into college level!), and I have taught 5^th-8^th grade at St. Joseph’s in Rosemount, 1^st grade at St. John’s in Vermillion, and 5^th grade in Cannon Falls.

Here are some personal things about me.  My husband and I have two children: Emma and Evan.  Our family’s cat is named Cloudy.  I am a huge Harry Potter fan, but my all-time favorite book is The Giver.  I love to play video games on my various Nintendo consoles.  I also love to bake and decorate cakes.  Above all else, I love to hang out with my family.
