About Ms. May-Olson

This is my 19th year teaching Science and/or Religion at Faithful Shepherd.  My entire education was from Catholic Schools.  I attended St. John’s in Savage K-8, Academy of Holy Angels 9-12, University of St. Thomas – BA, and St. Mary’s University – M.Ed.

I received my teaching degree from St. Thomas in Elementary Education and 5-8 Science.  A few years later I got my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from St. Mary’s.  Then I was back at St. Thomas again to earn a certificate in Differentiated Curriculum (including gifted education).  My other professional course work, and the topics I love to teach about, includes:

-Infectious Diseases
-Scientific Inquiry
-Water Science
-School Yard Ecology
-Minnesota Geology
-Mississippi River
-Ecolab – Chemical Engineering Teacher Intern
-Engineering Design

My favorite part about Faithful Shepherd is being able to teach Science in a Catholic School.  Middle School students are curious about our world and how it works.  While teaching science, I’m able to address their questions and have the freedom to draw in our Catholic faith as part of the answer.

Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family.  My husband Brock and I have 2 sons, Darren who is 8 and Dylan who is 5.  I also am a member of the St. John Neumann Handbell choir.
